Meridee Moyle Smith, born July 30, 1932, in Lindon Utah, passed away on September 11, 2026 in Calgary, AB at the age of 94 years.
Meridee grew up in Alpine, Utah, attended High School in American Fork, and graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelors degree in elementary education. She delighted in her participation in the Hill Cumorah pageant in 1954.
On December 16, 1954, she married her sweetheart Cleon in the Salt Lake Temple, who she had met on a blind date. Together they raised six, self-declared wonderful children, Stephen (Sarah), Kelly (Diane), Miriam (Glenn), Collin (deceased) (Marg), Murray (Heidi) and Nathan (Julie). They also have 25 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and counting. Meridee is also survived by a sister Susanne Smith.
She will be greatly missed by those of us left behind, but much comfort can be taken in the knowledge that she is now reunited with many of her family members, including her husband Cleon (an eternally sealed marriage, 59 years which were in mortality), her son Collin, her grandson Ben, and her sisters Janene, and Kathleen.
Mom taught school professionally for 2 years and then devoted her life to raising her children and serving others. She was active in her church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving in many callings including Relief Society, Primary, and Music. As her congregation’s chorister, she led the music into her late 80’s. Cleon and Meridee served a mission in the Oakland California Misson. She was an avid lifelong gardener. She will be remembered for her love of the Saviour, optimism, service to her family and others, gratitude and always seeing the best in others.

A visitation will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Evergreen Chapel, 30 Everstone Blvd. SW on Friday, September 18 from 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the same location on Saturday, September 19 at 12:00 noon with a visitation from 11:00 to 11:45 am prior to the service. On Friday, September 25, there will be a viewing from 7:00 to 9:00 pm at Warenski Funeral Home, 1776 N. 900 E., American Fork, UT. A graveside service and burial will take place at the Alpine Cemetery on Saturday, September 26 at 11:00 am in Alpine, Utah, with family luncheon to follow at the "Red Brick" LDS Church, 165 N 100E Alpine, Utah.
